Palantir CEO Alex Karp Revealed as Buyer of $46M Miami Beach Waterfront Mansion

MIAMI BEACH, FL Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp has been revealed as the buyer behind a $46 million waterfront mansion on the prestigious Venetian Islands in Miami Beach.

The luxury property, located at 55 East San Marino Drive on San Marino Island, was purchased in June through a previously unidentified Delaware LLC. The seller was Miami Beach software entrepreneurs Tom and Patricia Kennedy, who founded a local technology company.

The residence spans approximately 9,700 square feet and sits along prime waterfront with sweeping views of Biscayne Bay, making it one of the most notable residential transactions on the Venetian Islands last year.

High-Profile Miami Beach Sale

According to listing information, Joel Lusky and Zalmy Shapiro of the Brokerage South Florida represented the buyer. The agents declined to comment on the transaction.

Luxury properties on the Venetian Islands a chain of exclusive residential islands located between Miami and Miami Beach remain among the most desirable waterfront locations in South Florida due to their proximity to both downtown Miami and Miami Beach, along with panoramic views of Biscayne Bay.

Palantir Relocating Headquarters to Miami

Karp’s purchase comes shortly after Palantir Technologies announced plans to relocate its headquarters from Denver to Miami, further reinforcing the region’s growing reputation as a technology and finance hub.

The move reflects a broader trend that has accelerated since the pandemic, with numerous technology companies, venture capital firms, and financial executives relocating operations to South Florida.

Billionaires Continue Buying South Florida Real Estate

The Miami luxury real estate market has seen a surge of ultra-high-net-worth buyers in recent years.

Among the most notable recent purchases:

  • Howard Schultz, former Starbucks CEO, paid $44 million for a penthouse at the Four Seasons Residences at the Surf Club.
  • Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan acquired a waterfront estate in Indian Creek for $170 million, the most expensive residential sale ever recorded in Miami-Dade County.
  • Google co-founder Larry Page spent approximately $188 million acquiring three properties in Coconut Grove.
  • Sergey Brin, another Google co-founder, recently paid $51 million for a waterfront estate on Allison Island previously owned by LVMH executive Michael Burke.

Industry observers note that tax policy changes, including proposed wealth taxes in states like California, have accelerated the migration of high-net-worth individuals to Florida, which has no state income tax.

Miami’s Luxury Market Remains Strong

The purchase by Karp adds to the ongoing momentum in Miami Beach’s luxury waterfront market, where limited inventory and strong global demand continue to drive high-profile transactions.

Prime neighborhoods such as Venetian Islands, Indian Creek, Star Island, and Sunset Islands have become magnets for technology founders, hedge fund managers, and international buyers seeking privacy, waterfront living, and proximity to Miami’s rapidly expanding financial and tech ecosystem.
